Community & Fun!

Part of what brings conventioners back year after year is the feeling of community and being surrounded by shared love for dark skies, telescope making, and observing. This is a once-a-year chance to connect in person with others who share your passion and make new connections.

We also have a lot of fun! From our Friday Evening "Open Mic" to raffles, hikes, cornhole, BBQs, and so much more! There is always something to do or someone to talk to.

Friday Informal Talks

The Friday Informal Talks are always a lot of fun, and any convention attendee can sign up to make a short presentation, serious or not. Show off what you just built, show off your great astro-images, tell us about a new technique you are using when

observing.

Talks limited to 10 minutes - visuals must be on a Windows Compatible USB Stick.

Raffles

We have a FREE children's raffle at the Saturday Evening Program - Before the program begins, the MC will ask children present to come down front to get their free ticket. The drawing will be done early in the program. Prizes are age-group appropriate, generally focused on Astronomy or science.

A highlight of the convention for many is the Adult Raffle, with 5 grand prizes: five separate bags of Tele Vue eyepieces worth over $10,000! There are many other valuable prizes donated by astronomy vendors and individuals. Buy tickets at the Tee-Shirt Shop or just before the Saturday Evening program.

The raffle supports the convention, and we are grateful for the support of the raffle donors and participants - thank you all.

Swap Tables

The Saturday morning Swap Tables are a big draw for any bargain hunters and treasure collectors, heading in as soon as the sun rises. This is a non-commercial swap market where people can display and trade goods related to Telescope Making, Astronomy, Astrophotography, and much more! Whether you are looking for a specific piece or tool or just browsing, it's worth a visit to see what is available and chat with other attendees.
